Ring Sizing

Ring Sizing

Most of our rings can be handmade in any size to fit you. The ring will be handmade for you and can take up to 6 weeks before dispatch. If you need it before then, please contact us at shazjewellery@gmail.com or on 07753 578 020 to discuss options.

It is possible to resize some rings, so if you receive a ring as a gift that is too small or too big, you might be able to resize it. In the UK a silver ring typically costs £5 - £20 to resize depending on your local jeweller and the complexity of the job.  Some rings cannot be resized. This is why it is important to make sure that you find out the right ring size before buying a new sterling silver ring. Please see the detailed guidance below – if you are still not sure, please contact us at shazjewellery.co.uk.

As the item is customised for you it will be made to the size specification you have given. If we are making the product to measurements you have given, you are responsible for ensuring that these measurements are correct. We are only liable if we do not make to the measurements provided. An incorrect size ring, because the wrong size was ordered is not faulty.

We make our rings in English sizes which are from A – Z+6, however we only stock rings in sizes H – T, so orders for sizes outside this range are custom orders and not refundable.

Tips for getting the correct ring size

  • It is important to remember that the size of your finger changes throughout the day. Your fingers shrink when it is cold and expand when it is hot. They can also expand if you use them a lot during the day.
  • Take your measurements at different times of the day. You finger changes size throughout the day so please measure it throughout the day using the same measure
  • If you measure when your fingers are cold, the size will probably be too small
  • Wider rings need a slightly larger size, usually between ½ and 1 size. A good idea is to go to a local jeweller and try on narrow and wide rings and see the difference in sizes. This will help you to know how much to add on for a wider ring
  • Your knuckle may also play a part in determining your ring size. The ring has to fit over the knuckles; if you have larger knuckles, measure them when you measure your finger. Once you have the base measurement and the knuckle measurement, find a size between those two measurements. A ring that is too big at the base will roll around too much and become uncomfortable
  • If you come between sizes, or find you have two possible sizes, it is usually better to go for the bigger size
  • Your fingers are not the same size, even the finger on one hand is not the same size as the same finger on the other hand. Your dominant hand will have slightly thicker fingers than the opposite hand. Make sure you take the measurements on every single finger you want to buy a ring for.

How do you measure your ring size?

There are different ways to measure your ring size – the most accurate is to use a ring sizer and the most convenient is usually to use a tape measure, but please make sure you are accurate.

How to measure your ring size by using a tape measure?

•           Wrap the tape measure around your finger

•           It must be wrapped around the base of the finger under the knuckle

•           To mark the size, use a marker to draw a line where the tape measure connects

•           Unwrap the tape measure and note the size where the marker is

•           Once you know your finger size in cm/inches, you can use those measurements to determine the ring size from the chart below.
